Party Hats for Party Season

With Thanksgiving this week, I keep thinking of what kind of hat I can wear to dinner. And then, what kind of hat can I wear to the Holiday parties this year... I love this one. I love the way it moves and I love the idea of wearing a pale peach hat with a navy or black dress and enjoying the contrast.

This fascinator is really bridal, and I love that about it, but I also love the idea of wearing light colored party fascinators even in the winter.

I just added both of these to my Etsy shop. The peaches and cream one at the top is a one of a kind. Ready to send out if you need something right now for you're next party. And this white petal one is made to order. So, even if you don't want to wear white in winter (it is a real winter white, no rule breaking on this one) I can make one in what ever color you fancy for your holiday party. Remember Keiko's? She wanted it in navy, black and silver with the tulle and it turned out just as festive and lovely!

What are you planning for your festive attire this year?

Happy Thanksgiving! xophae

Adding Dresses to Etsy

Today I've added a new dress to my Esty shop.

So I've been playing around with this design, bias cut little shift dress with the contrast straps and belt. Originally I made it out of cotton twill, this one is in silk twill with the grosgrain ribbon contrast trim. I love working with designs that I can make in various fabrics to see how it shifts and changes.

What would you like to see it made up in, something more bridally? or as a little black dress? I could also go the other way and make it up in a lovely suiting wool, with a jacket or cardigan it would be a great dress for work and going out after, yes?

Fascinator headband, Part 2

This sweet headband needs a new home... I just added this piece to my Etsy shop. Please check it out!

I'm hoping to add more and more fascinators to my Etsy shop in the coming weeks. I'm curious, you lovelies out there that want/wear/need fascinators, how do you like to wear them? Do you like them/want them on a comb? a headband? What would make it easier to wear? or help you to wear it more often?

I'm just curious and would love love love any of your thoughts or observations!

Thanks! xophae

New year, new adventures...

(this image above is from the steam whistles at Pratt, it's a Brooklyn New Years tradition)

New years is my favorite holiday. Hands down. I like all of it, new years eve, new years day, new years resolutions.... What I love about it is it's so simple. It's just a celebration of time. One year is over and we're on to the next. It's the newness I love, like a new sketch book, the year and often in New York the city is all white and blank.

It makes me feel really optimistic. Also it's an excuse to make a new party dress.

So for this year, I'm making 2 sets of new years resolutions, 1 set for my life and 1 set for my studio. So far for my studio, my resolutions are to:

1) make more. and post more about what I'm making more of.
2) take on more projects that make me nervous, these projects always end up teaching me so much.
3) Try more of the "I'm not sure that will work" variety, just to see what will happen. (I think I started this one while working on my new years eve party dress. . .I'm still not sure what will happen with it.)

That's it. I like to keep the resolution list short, makes it all feel more achievable.

My parting thought, and maybe my mantra this year, is this:
I love this, I found it on pinterest, but it is actually from madebysean.com. It's right up there with my other favorite new poster, the "You will have your cake and eat it too" one my sister found on Esty.

I don't think these count as resolutions, maybe they are just reminders to do what I love and see what happens. I guess, in a nutshell, that is the resolution... to do more of what I love and see what happens...

Here's to a wonderful new year! cheers, xophae

Fascinators added to Etsy!

These are not new, but they are new in my Etsy shop!

So now begins the process of designing new things! Despite the late summer weather we're having today, I've got fall on the mind . . . I'm looking forward to making things for winter holidays and parties...

Keep me posted if you have any special requests!

A happy announcement!

I'm happy to announce I have finally opened my Etsy shop!

Please see the link on the right hand side of this page.

Some of you might be surprised to see I have opened it with jewelry (didn't see that coming did you?). I started making these necklaces a while back and have gotten such lovely compliments on them I thought I'd just offer them up. Here's what I have so far:

(long chain leaf necklace)

(asymmetrical ball chain necklace)

(short leaf chain necklace)

What else would you like to see available in my new shop? I will add the hats and facinators, of course. I was also thinking of adding the sweater corset (as long as I can find additional felted sweaters!).

Thoughts? I'd love to hear from you guys!
